11-Year-Old Girl Donates Organs, Saves Six Lives
After being in a coma for 57 days and unable to sustain ventilation, an 11-year-old girl, who has been suffering from myasthenia gravis since last year, gave up the treatment and donated her organs on November 9, 2015 at Wujing Hospital in Beijing.
The girl named Yating was diagnosed with myasthenia in July last year and had been seeing doctors everywhere since then. At midnight on September 13, 2015, Yating fainted at home and never woke up.
Being told that it's almost impossible for their little girl to wake up again, Yating's parents made a hard decision to stop the girl's suffering and give up the treatment. They also decided to donate the girl's heart, kidney, liver and corneas in a bid to help people in need.
Yating's parents said they received a total of 40,000 yuan of donations from society during their girl's treatment. In order to express the gratitude, they are willing to see people in need continuing to live with the help of their little girl.
Doctors stood in silence and paid tribute to the little girl's remains before the operation on Monday morning. Organs donated by the girl will reportedly save six people's lives.
