High Level forum for Security in Africa
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi stressed the need for cooperation to ensure
peace and security for sustainable growth and development in Africa.

He expressed hope that the forum would forward peaceful solutions to address conflicts in some part of Africa.
Chairperson and the Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo on his
part said thanks to the efforts of the African Union, Regional Economic
Communities, Member States and partners the number of conflicts is
declining in recent years.
He said Africa should follow a
political system that entertain diversities of languages, religions and
cultures equally and dedicate committed leadership to lead the economic
growth of the continent capably.
He said Forum will be an annual
event that converge a select group of leaders, including Heads of State
and Government, African and global eminent personalities, Chief
Executive Officers of private sector companies, civil society and think
tanks, to discuss topical peace and security challenges for Africa.
Chairperson said the Forum would contribute significantly to the
attainment of the African Union's vision of a peaceful and prosperous
Forum Chief Executive Officer and Special Advisor to the
PM Meles Professor Andreas Eshete said conferring on peace and security
is a timely agenda to increase the voice Africa at the international

The two-day Forum organized by the Addis Ababa
University of Peace and Security Institute attracted more than 100
participants from African countries, international organizations,
scholars, investors, diplomats and pertinent offices.
High-Level Forum on Security in Africa held for the first time on 14-15
April, 2012 in Bahir Dar aimed at promoting dialogue as a fundamental,
peaceful and durable means to resolving conflict, and to demonstrate
that diversity is strength, and not a source of conflict.
