Description
A family drama set in Addis, revolves around a father struggling to
save his only daughter from a heart problem that can not be treated
locally. An issue that had brought about the fund raising campaign of
“One Birr for One Heart” in 2003 to construct a cardiac treatment
center for children. The movie contributes greatly to such similar
efforts in the future by publicizing and creating awareness. For this
it should be given two thumps up.
The movie starts slow with long unnecessary scenes but picks up with
better acting, more powerful soundtracks and faster moving story.
However the dialogue leaves so much to be desired, it is very obvious
that the script was done in a hurry. Rumor has it that it only took sex
months for Zelalem (Director) to write the script and finish shooting.
Once you see the film it becomes not so hard to believe.
As for the lighting and editing it is by far the best movie made in
Ethiopia so far (excluding Haile Girema movies, of course!). The
director claims that he spent over a million birr for the making of the
film, when compared with other Ethiopian movies it is quite believable.
Semayawi feres, Serawit said his movie took 500 thousand to make; whose
camera work and editing are by far inferior to that of the 11th hour.
