Airlines announced on Thursday that the first Bombardier Q400 aircraft
among its order for Canadian plane maker Bombardier Inc. will arrive on
March 22, 2011, the state-run Ethiopian News Agency reported. Domestic
Sales, Marketing and Operations Director of Ethiopian Abebe Angessa
said Ethiopia had signed a purchase of agreement with the Canadian
company to buy eight Bombardier Q400 aircrafts at a cost of 192 million
USD. The director said the remaining seven aircraft will arrive
by September 2011. He said each aircraft worth 24 million USD can
carry 72 passengers. The director said Fokker aircraft which have been
serving the last 15 years would be replaced by Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
NDJAMENA — An Ethiopian Airlines passenger jet which made an
emergency landing in Chad due to a radar problem took off again Friday,
but 120 of its 150 passengers refused to board, airport authorities
said.
The plane, a Boeing 737 en route from Dakar in Senegal to
Addis Ababa via Bamako in Mali, "left this morning at 5:00 am (0400
GMT)," said an airport official, as well as airport police. The
incident comes days after another Ethiopian Airlines 737 with 90 people
on board crashed into the Mediterranean minutes after takeoff from
Beirut during a raging thunderstorm on Monday. There were no survivors.
 An Ethiopian Airlines plane with 90 people on board crashed into the Mediterranean sea shortly after taking off from Beirut international airport in the early hours of Monday, the Lebanese transport minister said. The Boeing 737-800 disappeared off the radar some five minutes after taking off at 2:37 a.m. (7:37 p.m. ET Sunday) during a thunder storm and heavy rain, airport sources said. It was heading for Addis Ababa. Transport Minister Ghazi Aridi told reporters at the airport that the crash site had been identified 31/2 kilometres west of the coastal village of Na’ameh. He said search and rescue operations were under way but declined to give further details. He said it was too early to say what caused the crash but confirmed the plane took off in stormy weather. An investigation into the cause was under way, Mr. Aridi added.
SEATTLE (BNS): Ten Next-Generation 737-800s, valuing $767 million at list price, is ordered to Boeing by Ethiopian Airlines. The order previously was listed on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries Web site as unidentified.

Helina Teferi, 21, a stewardess for Ethiopian Airlines, was sentenced to three years in prison after being stopped by Border Agency officers at Heathrow on a flight from Ethiopia\'s capital Addis Ababa on October 12, 2009.
Her baggage was searched and around 10.5kg of cannabis was found, concealed beneath a false bottom in the suitcase.

since January 2009 to five.
The award was presented at the 41st annual general assembly of
African airlines association held during 22-24 Nov, 2009, in Maputo,

Abuja — To strategize its operations for value delivery services to
its customers, Nigerian Eagle Airlines (formerly Virgin Nigeria) has
signed a network wide code share and interline agreement with Ethiopia
Airlines. The codeshare which was signed by Capt. Dapo Olumide and Ato Girma
Wake is coming on the heels of an earlier technical service agreement
in August by both airlines in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A codeshare is a
commercial air pact between two airlines to offer passengers services
on either airline.
The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and
Ethiopian Airlines are holding talks to resolve a case of an alleged
plagiarism of a Term of Reference (ToR) document prepared and
distributed to consultants who had contested for the design works of
the headquarters of CBE, knowledgeable sources disclosed to The
Reporter.
The ToR was prepared by Wihib Kebede &
Associates, an architectural firm, to guide the design competition of
CBE’s future headquarters. Ethiopian is alleged to have issued the same
document calling bids for a design of its future headquarters, too, the
sources said.
DUBAI, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Ethiopian Airlines will firm up an
order for around 12 A350 jetliners worth almost $3 billion at
the Dubai Air Show, industry sources said on Saturday.
The order is expected to bring sales of the future
