And also Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the ongoing trend of political activities demonstrate that democratic order is deepening in the country.

Meles reaffirmed government’s commitment to make the upcoming election peaceful, democratic and truthful.

The premier said the nation is expected to register a double digit growth.

In a press conference he gave to foreign journalists here on Thursday Meles said law of code of conduct which was endorsed by majority of political parties has been issued by incorporating international practices.

The trend for the allotment of airtime for political parties is as per their seats in parliament, he said, however EPRDF willingly decreases its time for other political parties.

Meles said the established joint councils of political parties at all levels are addressing the complaints arising from any political parties.

Meles said some groups are trying to downplay the ongoing election process here and abroad. However, he said government is following very closely the mutinous acts of theses groups.

He urged the entire public and all stakeholders should follow such mutinous act of destabilizing forces during election.

Regarding economic growth Meles said “ The export performance has been quiet good .It was low initially making the necessary growth but the outcomes in the last eight months show that country’s export has grown by 21.9 percent and is expected good growth rate and the economic as a whole”

Asked about his reflection on US State Department 2009 Human Right Report, Meles said the report is a duplication of 2008 similar report.

The funny part of the report, he said they don’t even try to verify facts. “ If there are lies, they would be plausible lies” Meles noted.

The premier responded to issues including Somalia’s parties, recent IGAD Summit held in Kenya, BBC’s allegation against TPLF diverting food aid to military procurement during 1984 drought, gov’t measures against tax evaders, Somalia’s recent parties’ agreement among others.

    The issue has never been about TPLF letting food in, it was about the TPLF selling aid food for the migrants in Sudan and using the money to buy weapon. That is the truth, and will always remain to be the truth. Meles killed more Tigryans than the famine.
